GRID IN FOCUS: HRDC ‘GERRY MARSHALL TROPHY'
GRID IN FOCUS: HRDC ‘Gerry Marshall Trophy' for pre-’83 Gp.1 & Gp.1½ Touring Cars

QUALIFYING: 09:05 SUNDAY, 4 MAY
45-MINUTE RACE: 14: 40 SUNDAY, 4 MAY
This series for these sensational touring cars, resplendent in their period liveries, has been a hit from its first outing back in 2022. And that success is no surprise - the series brought back the epic battles that featured the all-time greats of the period: the flamboyant Gerry Marshall, the irrepressible Tony Lanfranchi, the super-smooth Stuart Graham plus so many other icons of the sport: Gordon Spice, Vince Woodman, Andy Rouse, Barrie Williams... we could go on!
Watch out for father and son Mike Whitaker in their potent SD1 Rovers, running in Patrick Motorsport and Sanyo liveries respectively. And they'll need to watch out too, for the clutch of 3-litre Capris bearing down on them, most notably the yellow ‘Track Marshall’ Capri driven by period touring car driver, Graham ‘Skid’ Scarborough, and Paul Martin in his immaculate Valvoline car. But both may be looking at the taillights of a third Capri in the hands of Charles Rainford - who joins the BTCC grid this season - in the fabulous Faberge 33 Capri.
Gerry Marshall’s son, Gregor will be out in his rare Vauxhall Firenza, emulating his father’s lasting connection with the Vauxhall marque. He'll have to contend with the close attention of Matthew Sanders and Jack Layton in the ex-Works Triumph Dolomite Sprint – a true period contest! And the battle between another father and son pairing - Richard and Ben Colburn - in quick and nimble Ford Fiestas will be well worth watching out for.
The ‘Willhire’ class for production touring cars will also be hotly contested. David Margalies usually tops the class with his rapid Alfetta GTV6 but he now has to contest with his son, Jake, driving a similar, but newly prepared GTV6...
